Must List: 5 Fun Things to Do in Seattle This Week
Belle and Sebastian, Sheng Wang, and Miranda July
By Seattle Mag May 16, 2024
New in the office this week is our summer intern, Carly Dykes. She’s studying journalism at the University of Washington and already brings a burst of energy to the team. When she’s not making our coffee (just kidding!), Carly’s been busy writing and publishing her first story – a good read you won’t want to miss.
Meanwhile, Whim W’Him is wrapping up its season with two emotional premieres, and SIFF’s in-person screenings are closing this week, so don’t miss our list of 8 must-see films. If you’re already dreaming of your summer getaway, we’ve gathered the top summer travel trends and destinations.
In major news, Melinda French Gates is stepping down from the Gates Foundation. And let’s not forget Re-Sole 206, Washington’s first sneaker dry cleaner, needs our help rebuilding after a break-in.
For the week ahead, Seattle Beer Week kicks off this Friday. And Belle and Sebastian will be performing with The Weather Station at Moore Theatre.

Sheng Wang is a comedian, actor, and writer from Houston who’s been making waves in the comedy scene. His Netflix special Sweet & Juicy premiered late last year, thanks to Ali Wong’s production and direction. You might recognize him from HBO’s “2 Dope Queens” or his writing for ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat.” Expect an incredibly funny night of laid-back observational humor.
