Bike In
Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure
It’s hard to believe Pee-wee Herman made his silver screen debut 25 years ago, but what better way to celebrate that fact than biking to Cal Anderson Park for Northwest Film Forum’s annual bike-in and watching his Big Adventure on the big screen, al fresco? Whee! 8/28. 8 p.m. Free. Cal Anderson Park, 1635 11th Ave.; info: 206.829.7863; nwfilmforum.org
Take Off for Seafair
Seafarer Follies
Those of you claiming to be Seafair-sick may perk up for this new (and very unofficial) entry in Seattle’s annual summer festival. The Seafarer Follies is a burlesque show featuring some of Seattle’s favorite strip-down stars, including The Swedish Housewife and Waxie Moon. Prepare to see Blue Angels, Red Devils, naughty mermaids and crustaceans unshelled. 8/6–8/7. $22–$25. 11 p.m. The Triple Door, 216 Union St.; 206.838.4333; thetripledoor.net
Make Art Outdoors
Arts in Nature Festival
Seattle’s Nature Consortium brings two great tastes together at the Arts-in-Nature Festival. Held at Camp Long in West Seattle, the funky, family friendly fest features live music (by Hey Marseilles and Caspar Babypants, among others), outdoor installations and plenty of chances to partake in art. 8/21–8/22. Times vary. $5. Camp Long, 5200 35th Ave. SW; 206.923.0853; naturec.org/festival.htm
Strike a Pose
Fashion Week in Bellevue
Head to the Eastside for your couture fix during Fashion Week at the Bellevue Collection. This elegant event showcases fall trends from the luxe lines housed at Bellevue Place, Bellevue Square and Lincoln Square—plus a runway show courtesy of none other than Vogue. 8/25–8/29. $75–$125. The Bellevue Collection, specific locations vary; see website for complete schedule.
Get the Blues
U-Pick Blueberries
’Tis the season to stain those fingertips blue! Our area boasts countless u-pick blueberry spots, but we love Bybee-Nims Farms because it boasts six different varieties of blueberries (some better for pies, some for snacking), and the location is beautiful—in the shadow of Mount Si. Times and prices vary. Bybee-Nims Farms, 42930 SE 92nd St., North Bend; 425.888.0821; bybeenimsfarms.com
